Office base: Wigan, WN3 5BA – hybird working available after a period of training
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

The Role

As a Paralegal in our Personal Injury Department, you will support solicitors in managing a varied personal injury caseload. You’ll play a key part in progressing client matters effectively, maintaining excellent client care, and ensuring cases are handled efficiently from instruction to completion.


Key Responsibilities

  • Advise and communicate with clients via telephone, email and written correspondence
  • Prepare funding documents and assist with file opening
  • Request, chase and review medical records
  • Draft instructions to experts and counsel
  • Arrange and attend conferences, taking accurate and detailed notes
  • Draft letters of claim, witness statements and schedules of loss
  • Prepare court applications and other legal documents
  • Create electronic bundles for conferences, hearings and trials
  • Maintain accurate time recording and support the department in meeting chargeable hour targets
  • Use the case management system daily to work efficiently and paperlessly
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, firm policies and regulatory requirements
  • Support colleagues where needed, including administrative duties and telephone cover
  • Assist with departmental promotion through social media and other channels

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Show a genuine interest in Personal Injury law
  • Work accurately and professionally, with good attention to detail
  • Manage a busy workload and stay focused during challenging or fast‑paced periods
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully, including over the phone
  • Produce written work that is clear and well‑structured
  • Work both independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Feel comfortable learning and using case management systems and IT tools

Essential Requirements

You will need:

  • 5 GCSEs at grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • A Law Degree (minimum 2:1)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational and time‑management abilities
  • Confidence using IT systems and good computer skills skills

Desirable

It’s helpful, but not essential, if you also have:

  • Previous legal work experience
  • Experience using case management systems
  • Experience preparing legal documents or supporting client enquiries
  • An understanding of Personal Injury processes, funding options or court documentation
